T3E22: Gnosis: The Dangerous Sexual Sect of Samael Aun Weor (Part 2)

In today's episode we will conclude the series I started eight days ago about Samael Aun Weor's Gnosis and the sad story of the murder of baby Verónica Herrera by her own mother Olga Herrera, in what I consider was a crime fostered by Samael Aun Weor's sect. In today's episode we will finish talking about Samael, I will explain in detail why gnosis is so dangerous from my personal experience with the sect, and I will tell you what I believe really happened with the murder of innocent Verónica.

Mexico is a nation where, just like in Colombia, magical realism is lived intensely, and its people form an amalgam of faith, traditions, beliefs and superstitions, which, when mixed with poverty, violence, lack of opportunities and the hope for a better tomorrow, become a breeding ground for all kinds of churches, sects and pseudoscientific systems that, in my opinion, in the end do more harm than good to the people they claim to help.

Under other circumstances, Victor Manuel Gómez might have been a political leader of the same stature as Jorge Eliécer Gaitán, a figure he was often compared to because of his eloquence, his marked Bogotan accent and even a certain physical resemblance. His public influence was such that he won the interest of the biggest star of Spanish-language cinema of all time: Mario Moreno “Cantinflas”, of whom he was spiritual guide and teacher, and who benefited from the generous donations of the famous and wealthy Mexican actor.

In Mexico, Samael produced the vast majority of his gnostic books, covering topics such as theurgy or ceremonial magic, a practice of Greek origin related to mediumship that was explored and spread by the famous English occultist Aleister Crowley. He also wrote about runes, Kabbalah, tarot, extraterrestials, reincarnation and, of course, continued to stress the importance of practicing sahaja maithuna or sexual magic to annihilate the ego and conquer psychic powers.

The other event that would also end up impacting my life decades later happened toward the end of his life, when he intensified his references to indigenous gods and traditions in his writings. Examples of this were his books “Aztec Christian Magic” from 1973, “The Secret Doctrine of Anahuac” from 1974, “The Mayan Mysteries” from 1977 and “Gnostic Anthropology”, which was released to the public in 1978, shortly after his death in December 1977.

In these books, which despite their titles speak very little of the real traditions and cosmogony of the indigenous peoples he mentions, Samael rather tries to argue that Native American peoples are essentially gnostic and that gnosis is inherently compatible with ancestral spiritual systems.

This claim, which does not withstand a serious anthropological or sociological analysis, nevertheless served him to attract a large number of indigenistas, neo-shamans and mestizos in search of the spirituality of their ancestors forgotten over time. In this last group were found the grandfathers Suagagua and Xieguazinsa, founders of the Pueblo Nación Muisca-Chibcha, who during the final years of Samael Aun Weor's life became active members and priests of the Gnostic Church, even traveling to Mexico to meet their teacher directly, as grandfather Suagagua told me.

Another indigenista leader who followed the Samaelian teachings was Domingo Días Porta, who in 1977 founded the Mancomunidad de la América India Solar (M.AI.S.), the organization to which Amilcar Vargas belonged, who was my guest in a conversatorio some time ago. Días Porta and the brothers Ingatyba Neusa, along with many other followers of Samael, devoted themselves to spreading the gnostic doctrine conveniently syncretized or adapted within the indigenous traditions that they simultaneously strove to rescue and resignify. On one occasion, grandfather Xieguazinsa explained to me line by line chapter XIX of the book “The Secret Doctrine of Anahuac” in which, according to his interpretation, Samael invites the American peoples to awaken their gods through sexual magic:

“Outside of the physical body, the awakened man can invoke the holy gods of the Aztecs, Mayas, Toltecs, etc.

The gods of the Borgia, Borbónico codices, etc., etc., etc., come at the call of the awakened man.

With the aid of the holy gods, the awakened man can study, in the astral light, the Secret Doctrine of ANAHUAC.”

These agreements, some public and others secret, between the Samaelian gnostic organizations and indigenist movements, were the prelude to the disappearance of the famous esoteric leader. In August 1977, Samael began to feel unwell, to lose weight and to lose his appetite. In October he had an apparent improvement, but in November he was struck by violent abdominal pains that finally prevented him from continuing with his travels and work activities. Summoning his courage, he showed up at a festival organized by AGEACAC called “Quetzalcoatl Day”, but he could barely stand on his feet. He spoke for 15 minutes in what would be his last public appearance.

Afflicted by the intense pains and intuiting the nearness of his departure, he emphasized in his speech the importance of suffering, torture and martyrdom for the liberation of the soul. He urged the congregation to follow in the steps of the Christ of Nazareth, carrying his cross, in order to become through it the feathered serpent of the Aztec myth. By the way, he reminded everyone that the cross symbolizes a lingam or phallus piercing the threshold of the yoni or vagina. What did sex have to do with the martyrdoms of his illness? Probably nothing, but paying attention to his writings, especially those of the book “The Three Mountains”, Samael reproached himself for his sexual behaviors and considered that such “sins” always ended in a painful punishment:

“My son!” You must suffer patiently the consequences of your errors”, exclaimed my Divine Mother KUNDALINI…

Another night, full of pain, my Mother exclaims with a loud voice, saying:

“My son! You have betrayed me over there in the physical world with other women…”

That was in the past, my Mother: I am not betraying you with anyone now…

“You have betrayed me with other women”.

The past is the past, what matters is the present; I live from instant to instant; I do wrong in arguing with you…

“Past, present or future, you are the same…”

This book, which Samael wrote in 1972, is by the way the one his followers point to as containing “literally” the exact prediction of his death. However, in my research for this episode the closest thing I found was the account of a vision or dream in which he traveled through several planets of the solar system, before encountering the Hindu god Shiva, who asked him to read the lines of his hand (…), Samael agreed but in them he saw his own future. He tells of seeing himself at 53 years of age, that is, the age he was two years before the publication of the book, and that from then on he saw 8 years of struggles and sufferings that he called “the trial of Job”, at the end of which he would have to pay the “tithes of Neptune” to then resurrect.

One could recognize the coincidence, were it not that unless “tithes of Neptune” is translated as his death, but Samael himself explains in the same book that tithes in their inner aspect refer to something like the scale of Karma. On the other hand, Samael died on December 24, 1977 at the age of 60, that is, seven years after 53 (close, indeed), but hardly can one say they were seven years of suffering when in fact they were his most prosperous years and of greatest fame before the five months of hardship he lived before leaving this world.

I did not find any reliable reference about the illness that afflicted Samael. The accounts of his son Horus speak of an intense constant pain in the region of the pylorus, that is, the lower part of the stomach. It is known that he took allopathic medicines, not homeopathic ones, nor the ones he taught to prepare in his book of occult medicine and practical magic. He also attended regular hospitals with university-graduate doctors who administered him strong analgesics for the pain. At this point Horus jumps ahead in his account and tells how Samael said he could not cure himself “because so it was written”.

During the last days of his convalescence the pains became more and more unbearable and when they subsided, Samael said he was suffering enormously for the “salvation of this suffering humanity” and that it was a necessary process to become Christified. However, the guru mentioned several times that he would be saved, that he only had to pass the trial of Job and then he would emerge triumphant; he even promised his wife Litelantes to take her to Tibet.

On December 10, 1977 he submitted to an abdominal surgery, but the doctors informed his family that there was nothing that could be done and gave him a prognosis of barely a few more days of life. Grandfather Luis Sánchez told me that a person close to his mother during the time she was a gnostic priestess met one of the doctors who operated on Samael that day, and told him that when they opened his belly, they found everything carbonized, as if it had burned. Understanding that there was nothing that could be done for him, they closed his abdomen and pronounced him hopeless immediately. Grandfather Luis told me that Samael had carbonized from within with his own sexual energy badly transmuted. I rather believe the doctors' view was that of a cancer with metastasis and probably necrosis or something like that, otherwise he surely would have been the subject of studies and analyses.

Shortly after, the doctors discharged him so he could spend his last days at home, where his family administered him palliative care. A few days before his death he had a surprising improvement, which is a frequent event in terminal patients shortly before their passing. On December 23 they say he woke up saying:

– “In the future I will be very rich, a millionaire, the most millionaire of the world, because you should know that I will have all the riches of the world, but although it may be very high I will be the humblest of the world”

Besides that, that day he did not receive food, he was running out of energy. On December 24 shortly before midnight, Samael Aun Weor left this world amidst the rituals and prayers his family and friends were doing trying to reverse the inevitable.

From that moment on the hopes of his family and his followers centered on another prophecy he had mentioned on several occasions, that when he died he would last without life for only three hours or a maximum of three days and that he would then return with his resurrected body to give testimony of having defeated death with his inner work of so many years.

It goes without saying that the hours, the days, the months and the years passed and Victor Manuel Gómez Rodríguez was never seen again in this valley of tears. That did not prevent more than one from appearing proclaiming to be the reincarnation of Samael Aun Weor, such as Samael Joav Bathor Weor, leader of a shadowy Colombian sect called Tao, which I will talk about in a future episode and which has nothing to do with the Tao of China. The small problem is that Joav Bathor was born seven years before Samael's death.

And just as the Tao of Joav Bathor and his father Kelium Zeus emerged, after Samael's death an infinity of Samaelian gnostic groups sprang up throughout Latin America, detractors of Samael and secret Samaelians like the case of the Pueblo Nación Muisca-Chibcha in Colombia and the MAIS organization in Mexico.

All the direct disciples of Samael and many who barely came to know him in person became venerable masters and purported successors of Samael, so it was no surprise that many of them became bitter enemies of each other and still today devote themselves to denigrating and discrediting one another. This includes his wife Litelantes and his children who remained in charge of the organizations that the late Samael led, Joaquim Henrique Amortegui – alias Ravolu, Júlio Medina Viscaino – alias Gargha Kuichines and many others. Even my friend grandfather Juver Osorio devoted years to writing letters to gnostics of the world “chanting the table” at them for what he considered a monumental misinterpretation of Samael's teachings.

The only thing on which all, or almost all, agree is in recognizing Samael Aun Weor as a kind of messiah, a Christ and the creator of the true gnostic doctrine for the liberation of the being and perfection as humans. Gnostic groups of all kinds can be found in almost any neighborhood of the main cities of Mexico, Colombia, Argentina, Spain, Brazil, Venezuela and the American cities with the largest Latin American population. However, gnosis has reached other cultures beyond the Latin American one and over the Internet I have seen Samaelian groups in English, French, Romanian, Swedish and Russian.

The Samaelian doctrine, despite the breadth of its bibliography, could be summarized in a few words: Conservative religious moralism of the mid-twentieth century enormously influenced by Catholicism, condemnation of all kinds of vices, with particular emphasis on alcoholism and infidelity, which were two temptations he himself acknowledged taking a long time to overcome, although there are stories that they rather accompanied him throughout his life.

According to gnosis, life is basically a training ground to which we come reincarnating from error to error and from life to life, and the goal is to try to escape that cycle of deaths and rebirths to reach Nirvana or a spiritual world of pure happiness and joy in the presence of God. So far, the part copied from Hinduism.

What gnosis offers is a path, techniques and the “knowledge” to achieve that liberation from the wheel of samsara, and it is based on what Samael called in his books the “annihilation of the ego”. According to this theory, human beings live in constant struggle against nature, which, through the pleasures of the flesh, the vices and the instincts, wants to keep us in slavery. Here we can already notice the moralism of this cosmogony and the total opposition to the ancestral indigenous thought in which we are one with Nature and not its enemies.

To defeat those “spiritual aggregates”, Samael prescribes as the ONLY way out, work on the anvils of the blazing volcano, the razor's edge path, the AFZ arcana or sahaja maithuna, which are the names he gives to “sexual magic”, which is basically having sex without letting a single drop of semen escape. For women it is not clear what the task is beyond “helping the man”, but there are those who say they must not have orgasms or get wet “more than necessary”. For others, the exact opposite, their function is for the man to be able to give her as many orgasms as possible while he stoically withstands the ejaculation reflex. This is the part gnosis extracted from Tantra.

After finishing the “great work”, the couple must sit in meditation and through Kegel exercises, “pump” the sexual energy or kundalini through the spine activating the seven chakras on its path, until reaching the crown chakra where, according to Samael, one obtains the flaming sword of magical powers with which egos can be turned into cosmic dust.

That is the “what”; the “how” is not indicated either in Samael's books or anywhere, but all the gnostics I have known have some version similar to “making use of the active imagination” to visualize the energy climbing up the spine, using the breath to move it through the body and then deliver the decisive sword strike to the egos. The last one, probably also with the active imagination.

But where Samael focused his flaming sword furiously was on all non-traditional sexual conduct. All members of the LGTBI+ community and people with fluid or diverse gender were for him “infra-sexuals” condemned irremediably to the flames of the infernal worlds. Even practitioners of innocent and healthy masturbation were part, according to him, of the scum of the world for whom he said “it would be better for them not to have been born” or to “tie a millstone around their neck and throw themselves into the sea”.

And this is the fundamental point. From there on, gnosis is full of pseudoscientific history talking about extraterrestials and Atlanteans mixed up with biblical stories and Hindu gods. Another good part of the gnostic doctrine consists of magical practices like conjurations, ceremonies, rituals and brews that have as their object to “help” the gnostic with their process of sexual magic, or bring them abundance, prosperity or iron health. The events I narrated about Samael's death may give an idea of the efficacy of those practices.

As I said before, the great attraction of Samael's work is his grandiloquent and showy literary style, which, being supremely chaotic, dark and vague, gives room for an infinite number of interpretations and that whoever wants to believe in gnosis always finds some way of making the theories fit and the prophecies hit. The promise of gnosis is supremely attractive because it offers everything other religions offer but with a specific method that in principle does not sound at all unpleasant: You can achieve the end of your suffering, abundance, happiness and as a bonus a life of pleasures in the hereafter after death… by having sex every day and making astral travels during the night… The only thing you have to give in exchange is your life, your peace of mind and your mental stability.

Because then we arrive at the most important part of this account: gnosis is a sect and it is very dangerous. Beneath the apparently harmless theory of sexual magic hides a seven-headed demon, and I will explain why.

Gnosis is like a fishing rod where the bait is the famous astral travel and some meditation techniques and the hook is sexual magic. When someone is initiated into gnosis, they are told of a secret knowledge that will transform their life, but it will not be handed over to them until they are in the second chamber, or better said, until they are already neck-deep in gnosis. This is one of the elements that identifies it as a sect.

Before delivering the knowledge of sexual magic, the apprentice receives the “lighter” books of Samael where they learn about goodness, will and justice, and they are being primed that they will be someone very important, a solar warrior, a member of an army of light, and they are being disconnected from the things of the world, including television, parties, alcohol, pornography, gambling, social networks. In exchange, they are being handed rituals, prayers, and soon they are told of the astral travel, which is nothing but the capacity to have lucid dreams, another topic I will touch on soon.

These changes, in the life of a person who has generally arrived at gnosis in the midst of a personal tragedy, vices or a lack of purpose, usually generate a positive change. The person has begun to look inward, to do things in furtherance of their personal growth and to disconnect from things that, to be frank, yes, usually do more harm than good. Then the future initiate is invigorated, feels strong, the use of will improves self-esteem, there is a better concept of oneself, new friendships and all of that results in better levels of serotonin, emotion, joy and optimism.

Then, if the student correctly performs the techniques for the out-of-body exit, in a matter of a few weeks they begin to have some rudimentary experiences of lucid dreaming. This is usually a very exciting event and for many, the experience of being outside the body and even seeing other worlds, flying, passing through walls or traveling in time, becomes the confirmation that everything Samael Aun Weor says is true. The aspirant becomes an initiate of the inner worlds: they have bitten the bait.

Because everything I just said is real. Well, more or less. It is real in the sense that it can effectively be experienced. Lucid dreaming is a widely documented although not fully understood phenomenon by science. I have had that experience on many occasions, but above all and more intensely, during my years of work in gnosis. It is an experience worth having, but as I will explain in another episode, it has nothing to do with gnosis nor can all the things Samael promises be done: exiting the body, traveling in time, speaking with spiritual beings… None of that has been scientifically verifiable despite many scientists having tried.

The thing is that for someone who has never had a metaphysical experience, the astral travel is, as I said, a confirmation (though misleading) that what gnosis promises is true. At this point the apprentice is already committed to esotericism and is ready to receive their first initiation. This is usually a ritual, similar to the one I performed with the Pueblo Nación Muisca-Chibcha, which to the best of my knowledge was a slightly modified version of the first chamber rite of passage in gnosis.

As I narrated in the episode about my rite of passage, an initiatory ritual is a very powerful act of psychodrama and it is designed so that the initiate feels that they have been reborn, that they are no longer the same, and also that usually, one of the parts of the rite consists of making vows of loyalty to the group, offering one's life to the cause or even more detailed and onerous promises such as tithing one's entire life, handing over property or unconditional obedience.

When a person has invested many weeks or months, effort and dedication in a goal, it is unlikely they will back down when they are on the verge of crossing it, so on the other side they will be waiting with a pot of boiled water to put them to cook and pour it down their throat.

After the rite of passage, the initiate is no longer just another of the bunch. Now they are a chosen one and they are ready to receive the supreme knowledge. Then the masters or the more advanced initiates let loose the perfect marriage and detail the techniques to perform sexual magic as it should be done. If you don't have a partner, don't worry: the community will get you one. This is something grandfather Suagagua told me himself: if the initiate has no companion, the priests can ask some man or woman of the group to “teach” the technique to the novice, although it is not uncommon that the priest himself offers to do the task, especially when the one being initiated is a woman and, if possible, to his liking.

This is already kept under the strictest secrecy and I declare at once that I did not come to belong to that circle in Pueblo Nación Muisca-Chibcha, although I do have the suspicion that grandfather entrusted a lady from the community with fulfilling that function with me, despite being married to Paula, since the young woman in question suddenly appeared in my life declaring her love and respect for Paula as "the elder."

I also learned from grandfather that in his time it was common for couples practicing sexual magic to occasionally perform the practice in front of their elders, so that these could endorse or correct the work they were doing.

The sexual abuses by Gnostic leaders against women who have gone through the洗脑 (brainwashing) I've described as part of the initiatic process are one more page in the ignominy of my country and surely in most countries where Gnostic groups exist. But even if these abuses never occur, sexual magic represents a huge danger for those of us who have fallen into the nets of these sects.

In a manner similar to what happens with astral projection, part of the problem with sexual magic is that it carries a dose of reality. As I've said, sexual magic is based on tantra, which is an ancient wisdom sharing the same foundations as the sahaja maithuna of Samael: avoiding ejaculation, containing orgasm and transmuting sexual energy to energize the chakras of the energetic body.

However, tantra mentions nothing about flaming swords or ego annihilation nor does it have problems with diverse sexual practices including masturbation. In fact, it promotes masturbation — or better let's call it self-love — to learn the technique correctly.

The truth is that if you follow the instructions correctly, not Samael's because they are tremendously imprecise and confusing, but rather those of a tantric master like Mantak Chia, you can indeed achieve effects such as more lasting erections, overcoming premature ejaculation, having multiple orgasms without ejaculating and much more intense and prolonged orgasms than traditional ones. Many people even claim to achieve altered states of consciousness and sensations of unity with the universe or with their partner.

If someone who practices gnosis, in addition to achieving astral projection, comes to experience some of these mystical effects during sex, it's most likely that they will reaffirm everything Samael says about sacred sex: that through it they are annihilating egos, healing themselves of diseases and other things. But the most dangerous part is that they come to believe, with absolute certainty, that if they fail in the work — meaning ejaculating by mistake, or letting themselves be carried away by passion, or forgetting meditation or the mantra — then the fateful consequences Samael describes will come true: illnesses, loss of home, loss of all spiritual work achieved, demonic possessions or even death.

So the initiate gradually and without realizing it fills up with all that garbage of mystical illusions, fears, and conflicts. Not to mention that despite avoiding ejaculation being less difficult than one might think, the fact of having to contain it always, always, is a pressure that builds up in the mind. Moreover, according to Samaelian doctrine, sexual practice must be performed daily and last at least one hour. For many couples — and especially for women — this is an inappropriate pressure and above all an invasion into something so intimate. I know of many Gnostic women with problems of infections, irritation and other vaginal issues.

Aun Weor called sexual magic "the path of the razor's edge" and the truth is that phrase describes very well what it feels like to follow the gnosis path. Sex is a very large part in most people's lives and the Samaelian restrictions don't apply only to ejaculation but also to masturbation, pornography, desiring other women, looking with lust — not to even mention the tragedy a Gnostic person living through if they have homosexual thoughts or a gender identity different from their birth.

The hope that sustains a Gnostic is that as they annihilate egos and advance on the path, things will get easier, temptations will fade. But that never comes, for the simple reason that human instinctive forces are neither egos nor demons, nor do they get annihilated in any way. The most you can achieve is repress them, but as Catholic priests know very well, repression usually brings about real evils with which people eventually vent.

Having gone through that crucifixion, I can assure you that the path of the razor's edge is walked barefoot and always ends in failure. If Samael Aun Weor himself in 1972, at age 55, was terrified by his sexual failures yet optimistic about achieving liberation with the Arcanum AZF, what can a beginner expect? Nature is not an enemy but as my teacher Mara says, nature has no morality. Sexual energy moves us to ensure that life continues thriving and cares little for our intentions of spiritual revolution.

However — and I hope this message reaches someone thinking about abandoning that path of suffering that gnosis is: failing at gnosis is succeeding in life. I remember a Muisca grandfather once telling me that when he fell, meaning when he failed to maintain ejaculation control, he had lost everything: money, his home, his family. That was one of the testimonies that resonated deeply in my mind and began to exacerbate a permanent state of latent anxiety.

When faced with deciding between my mental health and liberation from the wheel of samsara, I chose to trust my skeptical instinct and recognize the enormous contradictions I saw in gnosis, the poor coherence of the Gnostic "masters" I knew, and the total lack of scientific evidence for all Gnostic claims. I sent the perfect marriage to hell and decided to stay with one that was imperfect but peaceful.

I must say there were never any negative consequences of that decision. Quite the contrary — my mental peace eventually returned, my relationship with Paula improved to levels we could never reach within gnosis, our economic prosperity and health arrived, and our greatest joy, our children, came after I left gnosis. The detoxification process from Gnostic garbage was not easy or quick, but I'll tell that in detail in another episode.

The judge who ruled on the Olga Herrera case found no grounds to associate the murder of little Verónica with gnosis nor to connect the case to the girl's father. I'm not a lawyer nor do I know Spanish law, but what I do believe is that gnosis had a lot to do with the tragedy. Based on my knowledge of gnosis and my personal experience, I'll try to complete the story of that unfortunate family to show — if not what really happened, then what could potentially happen in a similar case when misfortune conspires so that everything that could go wrong, goes wrong:

I don't know how long Olga and Rafael had been in gnosis before the Santiago de Compostela events, but I suppose it would have been a couple of years, at most three. Most people leave gnosis after a few years when they get tired of fighting their own nature, or when they realize the inconsistencies of the leaders, or when they become victims of abuse, or simply when they see that the promises of peace, happiness and prosperity never arrive.

During those years, Olga and Rafael were indoctrinated in sexual magic and about the supposed dangers associated with ejaculating, having sex outside a Gnostic couple, and conceiving through ejaculation. In Chapter V of the Yellow Book, Samael says the following about the procreation process:

"Nine months of preparation are required — nine months of chastity, holiness, meditation — before carrying out the secret act with the husband.

The future father of the child must also not be a fornicator. He must abstain for nine months. He and she should only pray much to the Divine Mother, asking her the joy of having as their son a Great Master.

The spouses must not eat meats. The spouses must be vegetarians. The spouses must be chaste in thought, word, and deed.

The sacred copulation is carried out in Spring during the month of flowers, May. In the month of May, Buddha descends to bless humanity.

The act must be performed on a Friday at dawn. At that hour the morning star vibrates intensely.

The couple must withdraw from the act without having ejaculated the seminal liquor. The Lunar hierarchies know how to use a male gamete and a maternal ovum to make the womb fertile. (…)

Thus come into the world the children of Wisdom. This is the creator system of Kriya-Shakti.

With this Ancient system lost in the night of centuries, every Yogi couple could provide a physical vehicle for any of the Great Masters of the venerable White Lodge."

"Seminal ejaculation is a Crime. Seminal ejaculation is brutal fornication. The ancient Paradisiac reproduction system was carried out without seminal ejaculation in man, and without female orgasm.

The terrifying lucifers of the ancient Lunar earth taught man seminal ejaculation. Then he lost his powers. This is represented by the expulsion from Eden. (…)

It's horrifying to know that the terrifying Bonzes of the Dag Dugpa Clan, dedicated to horrible and fatal Tantrism, ejaculate the seminal liquor during their practices of Black Magic.

With all this, months after the girl's birth, Rafael — who had already expressed uncertainty about being the father — perhaps suggested spending the couple's savings on a trip to Santiago de Compostela to try to save their relationship. If one were to understand each of the concepts correctly, many things would change. The problem isn't gnosis itself but rather how people practice it and the personality of those who teach it.

My advice would be that you don't judge or criticize their activities. On the contrary, try to earn her trust, listen and show interest in what she tells you.

In most cases I've encountered, people who enter gnosis are looking for a personal connection, someone they can trust. So if you can provide that possibility, maybe she'll tell you what she really does and give you a chance to advise her.

For now I can tell you that it's important to have an anchor to reality, someone or something that works as a grounding pole. In my case, that grounding pole was my family, meditation and science. I had to stop my esoteric readings and practices completely and focus on what indisputably makes part of reality: breathing, nature, work, the most important personal relationships. One of the problems of Gnosis is that it fills your head with fears that have no real foundation. And I don't deny it to you, for now I don't know how to think well. Anyway the solution to the problem that you raise is easy: We must clarify the meaning of such concepts to avoid as much as possible any misinterpretation while we extract greater utility from them.

For example, the concepts of 'Wheel of Samsara', 'Death' and what 'The essence or divine spark' is are part of what keeps me here writing. You suggest that the solution to the problem I see in so many esoterists and gnostics is to clarify the meaning of the concepts. I suppose you refer to fornication, ego, ignorance and suffering. If you've seen my previous episodes, you'll have noticed that I often go to dictionary or Wikipedia definitions, always clarifying that there isn't a single definition and that any definition is by default arbitrary. However, I like to go to etymology, that is to the linguistic origin of words. Let's take as an example “fornicate”: if you search in Google “origin of the word fornicate” you'll find this result from the magazine Muy Interesante.

I've been there 30 years and they don't force you to the sexual practices as you refer to, much less to share donate or something of that style some property. The religions themselves are not absolutely pure; Buddhism comes from Hinduism; Christianity and Islam, from Judaism..gnosis, from all the previous ones. And in the end, if we're not fanatics nor do we become slaves of some current, we'll find our true spirituality. That one that it won't be necessary to share with words with anyone, because our deeds and our way of being, will speak for it.

To me, some books of Samael still seem entertaining and even culturally relevant to me, but because I already went through the process of believing that they were something more than religious fiction and giving them an importance that they don't warrant. I believe that no religion is good, but in the end they are necessary, or rather they were necessary for humanity, but nowadays they should already be on the way out. They are not required to form a social ethics, nor to give purpose to existence. That's why I chose and suggest the path of science along with true spirituality as an alternative path. Greetings!
